Gasherbrum 3 - Pakistan - 2022

L - R: Gasherbrum 4, the west ridge of G3 in the centre, G3, and just out of sight in the top right is G2. All around 8000 metres. Seen from the south/east.

In the summer of 2022, Aleš Česen (Slovenia) and I travelled to the Karakoram range in northern Pakistan. We set our sights on the west ridge of Gasherbrum 3, which at 7958 metres, is a whisker under 8000 metres. After acclimatising for several weeks, we reached the base of the west ridge but strong winds made us reconsider. We attempted to climb on the north-westerly side of the mountain in order to be more sheltered, but bailed when we hit a large and difficult tower at around 7650m. You can read more about it here.
